In addition to our manufacturing capabilities, L. L. Brown, Inc. has experience in a number of other areas, including complex assembly work and product research and development. To further lessen the burden on our customers, we also maintain working relationships with a large variety of third party vendors.

L. L. Brown, Inc. incorporates the latest technology in all phases of production. These technologies include fiber optic connections between buildings, as well as a 50 node PC network which controls job quoting, scheduling, machining, control, inspection, inventory, and accounting. Additionally, state-of-the-art computer aided design and manufacturing software is used in most of the jobs manufactured at L. L. Brown, Inc. Through the use of CAD/CAM and supporting verification programs, we can thoroughly test CNC programs prior to production. We are also able to enhance customer interfacing with our email T1 download capability allowing significant amounts of data to be received quickly.

Quality control is maximized with our multilevel inspection process, which includes first article, 10% (full inspection of a part after a percentage of the production run is complete), random sampling, and final production lot inspection. All inspections are fully documented, filed with each job, and are available to the customer upon request.

L. L. Brown, Inc. also uses an in-line Statistical Process Control (SPC) system and a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) to ensure part compliance. This SPC system, developed by Lawrence Brown, past president of L. L. Brown, Inc., and marketed under the name IN-SPEC, monitors production electronically, thus minimizing human error during the inspection process.

Over the years, L. L. Brown, Inc. has gained an excellent reputation as an alternate parts supplier. Although we can handle any job small to large, we are especially skilled in the areas of replacement parts for the following applications.

• Coal/cogeneration power plants
• Crushers (e.g. Limestone, Coal, Cement, etc.)

It is not unusual for customers to realize a 30%-40% savings, and enjoy a much shorter lead time over OEM replacement parts. In addition, with our parts inventory program, customers can keep their own in-house stock requirements keeping expenses to a minimum. You get:

As our customer you can supply:

• A sample part, new or used, along with your requirements for the part
• A part name and the machine
• A sketch or print

We will in turn determine the availability of the part and the cost. As the number of parts that we supply increases, an order page similar to the example will be maintained. Initially these will be emailed or delivered to your plant; however, the alternate objective is to supply this information from this website using the Customer Access area found on the home page.

The goal here is to initiate a cost savings by reconditioning and/or repairing older equipment. We have repaired paper handling equipment, bottling equipment, large electrical switches for a local power company, etc.. Obviously, specifications become more important as the complexity of the equipment increases and if it's electromechanical, no problem. Why buy new if your current equipment can do the job?

All equipment is refurbished or repaired at our plant, therefore the equipment must be shipped or delivered to our facility. Equipment weight should not exceed 1500 pounds. Before accepting a job it may be necessary for our personnel to visit your location to determine the scope of the job. Smaller equipment can be delivered to our plant for evaluation. Part of the evaluation is to establish the test criteria which must be met prior to shipment.

Step #1: The equipment is evaluated and a primary estimate is given.

Step #2: The equipment is disassembled (the process is video taped), parts are examined and a final quotation is given with a projected completion date.

Step #3: Replacement parts are purchased or manufactured (after CAD drawings are prepared) in our plant.

Step #4: The equipment is reassembled, tested and shipped.
